The popular ABC TV series Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries will return to Rippon Lea this spring with a major exhibition featuring the sumptuous costumes worn by the Hon. Phryne Fisher and her cohorts. The house and gardens, which features in the series as the home of Aunt Prudence, will once again be transformed as the doors open to the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Costume Exhibition on the 7th September.
If you love costumes it is a great exhibition to see.
The exhibition is on until the 27th of October. Tickets at the door, or you can buy tickets online.
For more details, you can go on the Rippon Lea website.

Daylight saving may be happening this weekend, but right now it’s looking a little windy and rainy, so maybe a couple of gallery hops might keep you busy.
At Luma, the Latrobe University gallery is an exhibition by Vali Myers is on till the 1st of November. It’s been highly recommended to me and as I haven’t been to LUMA, as yet, this is a good excuse.
Vali Myers works in pen, ink and watercolour and are extremely detailed and take you to a world of fantasy. For more information have a look at their website.

And, finally, if the weather does hold out go over to Bolin Bolin Gallery at the Bulleen Art and Garden, where it is the last weekend of their current exhibition, ‘Alfresco’ by the Box Hill Clayworkers. A quick look revealed quirky interesting work and it’s always a delight to wander around the nursery and thoroughly enjoy their latest exhibition. Often focusing on ceramics, they always show high quality work.
This ceramic exhibition celebrates the coming of spring and spending more time outdoors.

This exhibition was inspired by Bulleen Art & Garden’s magic location – right next to the Yarra River parks. There is an island of indigenous bushland in the middle of suburban Melbourne. It is a unique flood-plain habitat and urban wildlife corridor and providing links for a range of native birds and animals within the urban environment and beyond. This area also has a rich cultural heritage, particularly the importance of the Bolin Bolin Billabong and precinct to the local Wurrundjeri as an important annual meeting place.
Art is a way to express our connection to the natural world, and to encourage others to find their own connections. Artists have previously responded to this precinct, most significantly it has been the birthplace of two of the major Australian art movements – the Heidelberg school and the Angry Penguins. And, so we have asked artists to respond to natural and cultural values of this important section of the Yarra.
